It was a week of firsts. A number of our guests landed their very first fish ever, and most walked away having caught five or six species they'd never touched a rod to before. The rivers were generous — none more so than when one lucky angler brought a record-book 22-inch grayling to the net, a fish that had the whole lodge buzzing by dinner.

🍽️ Food Highlight Lemon tart with walnut streusel, confit lemon, and rhubarb pulled straight from our garden.
🍸 Drink Highlight The Negroni was the drink of the week, poured often and enjoyed slowly.
🌱 Garden Our first broccolini was ready to harvest this week, and the sweet peas look to be just around the corner.
🎣 Fishing Highlight A record-book 22-inch grayling — the kind of fish that gets talked about for years.
🐻 Wildlife Sighting Sows and cubs seemed to be everywhere this week, and one curious mink swam right up to a group along the bank.
🔥 Cozy Moment On their last night, one group built a fire down at the pit and stayed out talking — the perfect send-off.
🌤️ Weather Note Cold and rainy for most of the week, but a few evenings cleared up just in time for stunning sunsets.
One day at Brooks River, our guest Doug Long summed it up best:
"This was one of the top experiences of my 65 years!"
Until next week — tight lines and clear skies from all of us at The Lodge at 58* North.
