Autumn has arrived in Bristol Bay, Alaska, and with it comes the magic of fall fishing in Alaska. At The Lodge at 58 North*, the first frosts of the season settled in this week, and the mornings on the Naknek River have turned crisp and quietly beautiful. It’s the perfect time to experience the river’s legendary rainbow trout fishing—and the lodge is alive with the kind of stories only September in Alaska can tell.

This week brought a surge of fresh fish into our home waters, and with them came the big rainbow trout that Bristol Bay is famous for. Whether wading the Naknek or joining a small-stream fly-out, guests landed powerful rainbows while enjoying the peaceful chill of early morning mist. Early fall is one of the best times for trophy-sized rainbows in Alaska.

Greenhouse-to-Table Dining

Back at the lodge, our greenhouse-to-table culinary program continues to shine. This week’s highlight was a roasted parsnip tart, featuring caramelized parsnips grown right here on the property, drizzled with homemade whey caramel and topped with compressed pear. Pair that with a steaming cup of coffee on a foggy morning and you have the essence of luxury Alaska fishing lodge life.
