We're thrilled to share that The Lodge at 58* North has been featured in AFAR's roundup of Alaska's best hotels — a list curated by one of travel's most trusted publications, reaching more than 600,000 readers a month who look to AFAR for where to go and where to stay next.

A Small, Personal Experience by Design

As Bailey notes, we've kept things intentionally small — just five modern cabins, each with private bathrooms, separate sleeping and lounging areas, and large windows framing the Naknek River. With an average guide-to-guest ratio of 1:2, no two days on the water look the same, and neither do the days spent back at the lodge.

Fishing at the Heart of the Bristol Bay Watershed

Guests fish either close to the property or fly out on our vintage 1950s-era Beaver floatplane to more remote stretches of water, including the coastal reaches of Katmai National Park — one of the best places in the world to spot brown bears fishing salmon runs of their own.

Back at the lodge, the days end with three-course, chef-prepared meals built around seasonal, Alaska-harvested ingredients — rarely repeated over the course of a season — along with a well-stocked bar, relaxed common spaces, and a wood-fired sauna to unwind in after a long day on the river.
